Roel Wildeboer 1902-1989
Biography
Roel Wildeboer (Meppel 1902 - Hilversum 1989) Dutch painter.
Started working as a plasterer; from the beginning of the 1940's professional painter, but as such a self-taught man. Influenced by A. Idserda and A. Keizer. Worked untill 1932 in Meppel, than moved to Hilversum. Wildeboer travelled extensively, among others to Scandinavia, Germany and France. Hij mainly painted landscapes ('t Gooi and the province of Drenthe) and still lifes with flowers, fruit or fishes. Regularly published poetry in De Gooi- en Eembode and wrote texts for the comic series Bubbel Big in De Tempelier.
His work is still very much affordable but prices are on the rise.
